Topbars are great, especially when you're using a tiling window manager (which I will be after I fix #12). I've never had a polybar setup that I really liked, though, so I'll need to build one from the ground up.

The topbar/status bar should include:

the date and time
virtual desktop icons
system tray
- volume & sound options
- networking
- cpu/gpu/ram/storage usage
- cpu/gpu temperature monitors
- battery level of wireless mouse and/or keyboard (if applicable)
spotify "widget" and probably several other things I can't think of at the moment that I will add if/when I remember them
