2.2.6 Endless reloading #55

It keeps endlessly reloading every tab with panda links on it. Using ccd0's 4chan x. This shows in the console: ss 2014-12-17 at 01 04 20

Do you perhaps use HTTPS Everywhere or something similar that would be redirecting HTTP to HTTPS? If so, then that is most likely the reason - ExLinks now has HTTPS -> HTTP redirection for any threads where panda links are detected because the E-H API is HTTP only, and browsers nowadays don't like loading HTTP resources when using HTTPS (which results in ExLinks not loading properly). Thus, you'd get into an endless loop with ExLinks directing you from HTTPS to HTTP and another plugin directing you from HTTP to HTTPS again.

If this the case for you, then the only solution is to see if you can set HTTP allowed for 4chan in whatever extension might be redirecting HTTP to HTTPS.

So can this be fixed? Shouldn't we be using HTTPS...everywhere?

Only if E-Hentai implements HTTPS for the API & thumbnails. Which would be great, but good luck convincing Tenboro (the E-H admin) to do that.

That ponyfag too busy updating his textgame to do that. Oh well, Hentai > Security.

Another option would be to create a HTTPS proxy server for the API & thumbnails, but such a server component would turn ExLinks from something that costs nothing to upkeep to a money sink, which is way more than what I'm willing to invest into it right now.

Yeah not worth it. Let's leave it up to them to implement stuff, not third-party coders who bridge the gap between the two sites.

Though I have to ask, why are you working on ExLinks, don't you work with Jacob now, on top of maintaining nyaa? No wonder underwater went underwater, you got your hands full. (Don't work too hard)
