Cannot resolve symbol #1

Do I have to install version 1.8 locally? Is it necessary since it will never be used.

Well you could just remove the module from the parent and the dependencies in the Essentials pom which one could do if it's not necessary. But adding them would be just running buildtools with the --rev 1.8 and --rev 1.8.3 arguments which might be easier and it would keep the diff to the base code down.
