Some bold fonts not appearing correctly in Chromium 14.0.829 #182

Which program triggers the problem? Specify the filename if possible.

Chromium 14.0.829 (and previous builds)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start Chromium
2. Access a site that uses certain bold fonts (e.g. the header navigation of 
www.bbc.co.uk/news)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Bolded font rendering appears partially broken

What version of gdipp (including renderer)? On which operating system?

0.9.1, Windows XP SP2 (JA)

Please provide any additional information below. Screenshots always help.

Please refer to the screenshots below comparing the same website on Chromium 
14.0.829 and Chrome dev build 14.0.814.

Of course, this could simply be a bug with Chromium's font renderer, however 
it's worth noting that not all bold fonts exhibit the problem.

Windows 7 x64 => the same strange artifacts above letters when rendering 
textshadow style. A good page to test your Chrome text rendering:

it gets very bad when using new google map with openGL street names and all are 
unreadable :(
at least on chrome 15.0.874.121 m

Chrome 15.0.874.121 m seems to be giving the "Aw Snap" message (crashing the 
page) while trying to render pages that have the Helvetica font in it.

this seems to work for most situations, but then some website use other kind of 
shadows like:
body.chrome, body.safari { text-shadow: rgba(0,0,0,0.1) 0px 0px 1px; }
and it completely unreadable. ex:

Yes, unfortunately it's been like this on Chromium for a little while, so I've 
reverted back to a previous Chrome dev (via PortableApps.com).  Note that I am 
using Win XP, not Vista/7.

Previously the issue was related to webkit changes, and 'fixed' when the devs 
reverting back to GDI text:
http://trac.webkit.org/changeset/97149

I suspect it's something similar this time too.

This also affects newer spotify clients, since they have an embedded 
webkit/chrome-component for most of it's rendering.

disabling gdipp resolves it.

it never was that much fkd 
my chrome updated to 18.0.25.11
i can't read anything, i dont feel like disabling gdi.
gona try to revert back to chrome 17 or something

The userscript posted above fixed my problem @ Twitter.com but youtube videos 
with subtitles is really ugly now because of the shadow disabled.

Ever since updating to 18, (1) I've been having these same problems with gdipp, 
and (2) my backup renderer, gdi++, will not work on Chrome at all. Reverting 
back to 17 didn't work, either. I really hope someone is doing something to 
resolve this issue.

I'm seeing these artifacts also with 18.0.1025.142 (Win 7 Pro 64), but only in 
incognito tabs.

I've only been using gdipp for about a week and chrome was displaying fine. 
This only started happening today.

The problem recurs in japanese and in english.
And canary build has the same problerem.

I am sticking with Chrome 17.0.963.83 (available from PortableApps.com) - I 
believe this is the last version (stable) without the GDI font fixes that cause 
so many problems with gdipp.

gdipp is also not compatible with 23.0.1271.97.m. Its high time to get a fix 
for it.
