Taskbar Text Is Un-bolded, Difficult to Read #38

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

Which program triggers the problem? Specify the filename if possible.

Not sure. Explorer.exe?

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Install gdipp_x64_0.7.4.msi
2.Enable font smoothing/Turn on gdipp service
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I've attached screenshots of behavior in previous versions of gdipp and
behavior in the 0.7.4 release. Long story short: taskbar text is un-bolded.
In previous versions, taskbar text was (a) bolded for both active and
inactive windows and (b) effectively smoothed. Here, condition (b) still
obtains, but condition (a) is no longer operable.

What version of gdipp are you using? On what operating system (bitness)?

0.7.4 (x64) on Windows Vista Ultimate Edition (SP2) 64-bit

Please provide any additional information below.

I use the classic shell, which is maybe contributing to what's going on here?

Great project, btw. I'm so grateful to you guys for keeping this going.
Appreciate all of the hard work. Thank you so very much!

Your shell is not the standard Explorer, or tweaked by some extension/skin. The
boldness of the text seems changed. In previous versions of gdipp and
ClearType, they
do not respect the boldness the program requests, thus render the boldness
"incorrectly correct". gdipp 0.7.4 renders exactly the way the program
requests, thus
the boldness is "correctly incorrect".

I will fall back to emulate the ClearType behavior in the next version.

Thanks, crendking. As far as I know, I'm using the standard Explorer shell. (I
_am_
using custom imageres.dll and shell32.dll files, but that shouldn't matter,
should
it?) I am using custom fonts, bolded for both Active and Inactive windows, but
I'm
honestly not running anything else, tweakwise.

I've reverted to 0.7.3 in the interim.

Once again, let me thank you again for all of your hard work with this project!

Try 0.7.5.
