Noticed there were some minor bits of info missing from the PDF, like download attempts and the new debug stuff. I'll update that stuff tomorrow.
PDF should be accurate now, unless I find phrasing I don't like.
Edit: found phrasing issues when recording voiceover for videos. Hopefully 99% free of meh now.
Well on the way to an updated video series. Got all the voiceover work done, and just finished exporting the first video.
Seeing as this is going to be the last big documentation update, I'm going all out and adding captions/subtitles to each video. Aiming to keep each video under 3 minutes, so you can get only the information you need quickly and concisely.
Edit: Also worth mentioning, I've updated the video thumbnails to be more descriptive of what they represent. I'll make all of this available, sans source video (for security reasons), on Nexus Mods whenever this is done.
More details concerning what will be in the publicly available archives.
I'm a huge fan of organization, so as an aside, the Nexus Mods page is going to have some serious cleanup when this is done. I also want to revamp the descriptions there and here, transition to images if possible. Granted there's the concern of images not loading at times, so we'll see. Images really just provide me with a lot more flexibility as far as formatting is concerned. I'll figure that all out later.
Anyways, archives. Stuff related to the video tutorial series will be in four archives, maybe three if my brain will let me stuff exported captions in with the timestamps and such. 1.) Timestamps for each video and a full transcript for the entire series 2.) Exported caption files (SRT format) 3.) Exported videos without captions 4.) Exported videos with captions baked into the videos
Text-based documentation will gets its own archive, which include the most up-to-date PDFs, quickstart and the full user's guide. Source code archives will be shoved into one file and also made available. Releases for all versions will get the same treatment as source.
There will also be one other archive for all changelogs and quickstart guides, current and past versions.
I may also include one massive archive for those that just want all the things all at once, but that will depend on the size of the file because Nexus Mods has its limits on what I can upload. I think it's upwards of 2gb, but I'll have to check later.
Github, in the releases tab, will continue to only have the release archive and user's guide. Pretty sure they don't want me to upload all the things here.
Final update for the day: 3/8 videos are finished, including caption files and both version of each video, with and without captions baked into them. Good thing is one of those, installing SteamCMD, was probably the most involved, because of all the censoring that was needed, so I'm expecting the remaining five to take less time.
4/8 done.
6/8 done. Had to record a few more clips and found some missing verification checks. Will make an issue shortly.
EDIT 1: will need to add captions for the in-game testing video, far as I can tell, that's the only video from the 1.2.0 series that will make it into the 1.4.0 series. Trying to make this whole thing as succinct as possible.
EDIT 2: Videos left are "The Improved Log" and "Final Notes", former shouldn't take too long to finish, latter might, has a bit more information than the former. Will see if I can add links to each video in a new sidebar on the wiki.
All videos are done. I'll start finalizing everything soon, then I need to make those small adjustments to the code, and we can have a proper full release.
Will keep this pinned for now, until everything's done.
Video tutorial will start being updated tonight, videos on Youtube will be hidden until this is finished. Shouldn't be too long until the updated series is available, this update simplified operation a bit.
