Translations? #21

It could be nice to translate it in others languages. I don't know how to do it but if you tell me how, I can help with French.

How do you define translations?

Like I'm settings? Or the package names?

I already use i18n() in settings

NerosTie commented 6 years ago

It should be translated with i18n? Because everything is in english:

I don't think the package names are anything other than English?

I18n should translate them automatically?

I-Dream-in-Code commented 6 years ago

Qml documentation says to use qStr() instead of i18n()

I'll test it

But am I correct only settings should be translated?

Package names are always English, right?

I-Dream-in-Code commented 6 years ago

qStr won't work but every plasmoid on github uses i18n so idk why it's not working

I-Dream-in-Code commented 6 years ago

according to arch documentation it's not the settings menu of kde that sets the language it's Arch Linux locale that sets it.

so maybe you have your locale set to en_US?

naraesk commented 6 years ago

You have to provide the translations somewhere, afaik

I-Dream-in-Code commented 6 years ago

Oh that makes sense.

I'll look into it. I know KDE has an auto translate framework i think?

@NerosTie I'm not going to claim to know other languages

Here's the pacaur guide for translation https://github.com/rmarquis/pacaur/blob/master/po/HOWTO
