activities standard table too wide for screen #83

Closed caprenter closed 10 years ago

caprenter commented 10 years ago

I'm seeing: http://dev.iatistandard.org/activity-schema-table/ breaking out of the right hand side of my screen. (i.e. table is to wide)

Can anyone else confirm this?

Needs fixing for 1.04

Bjwebb commented 10 years ago

Confirmed.

caprenter commented 10 years ago

@Bjwebb I can't see a quick css fix on this, but noticed the use of tt elements to wrap the XML content in. See: https://github.com/IATI/IATI-Websites/issues/90

maybe removing those will help.

@caprenter http://dev.iatistandard.org/activities-standard/summary-table/ - it might have helped a little due to the change of font (although a bigger change recently was me fixing a broken codelist link). How does that look? What more do you suggest we do on this for 1.04?

stevieflow commented 10 years ago

@Bjwebb Could the items be backticked, in line with how Ive been doing the extra-documentation...?

Bjwebb commented 10 years ago

@stevieflow They were. That's what adds the tt tag!

Bjwebb commented 10 years ago

Actually, tell a lie, it's the XML that was, no the item column.

Bjwebb commented 10 years ago

TBH, I'm not sure whether "backticking" anything in this table is particularly useful. In general it provides a highlight, and distinguishes it from the rest of the text, but in a table column, that's not necessary. Also, with the backticking, the table tends to look more "cluttered".

This is looking ok in Firefox now, but still seems a bit wide in my chromium, but I can live with that.

bill-anderson commented 10 years ago

Looks ok to me in Chrome. Any chance we could add a facility to download as .xls (??)

Bjwebb commented 10 years ago

This is possible, but is not something I think we should do (due to time constraints) for 1.04. I've created a github issue - https://github.com/IATI/IATI-Standard-SSOT/issues/43
