Add readme with link to Maven doc #92

Copy readme into gh-pages branch and include link to the maven doc.

Stew suggested trying to avoid using that gnarly "copy from ../../" bit in a module that we might want to build separately because it feels a bit nasty. I'm going to try creating a separate module for building the site.
