IBMi LPAR o/s V7R4 Iperf rpm failure #39

Hi , Got these msgs when trying to install an iperf rpm , i'm new to the open source world so would appreciate some guidance to fix ;

rpm -Uvh /tmp/iperf-2.0.9-1.aix5.1.ppc.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libC.a(ansi_32.o) is needed by iperf-2.0.9-1.ppc
libC.a(shr.o) is needed by iperf-2.0.9-1.ppc
libc.a(shr.o) is needed by iperf-2.0.9-1.ppc
libpthreads.a(shr_comm.o) is needed by iperf-2.0.9-1.ppc
libpthreads.a(shr_xpg5.o) is needed by iperf-2.0.9-1.ppc

Installing AIX rpms in PASE is not supported.

Thanks Kevin, I’m trying to use iPerf to benchmark my current E980 lpars before we migrate to some S10’s , AIX works a treat but I’m struggling to get it installed on my IBMi’s , any advice greatly received !

Well, you can try to build this yourself: https://github.com/esnet/iperf#building

You could also ask in the IBM i Ryver or Slack communities to see if anyone else has built it: https://ibm.github.io/ibmi-oss-resources/
