• Clear water, fairly easy location (clear different between surface and bottom)
• Turbid water location
• Tropics versus arctic

• different levels of clear-ish water
• shallow waters
• steep drop from shallow to deep (interesting to assess light penetration limits)
• area that intersects other studies (e.g., groundwater discharge, primary productivity)
