Please add anything I may have missed:

Date/Time: 8/23 from 10-11AM EST Attendees: Kashmira, Katya, Shazad, Aliyah, Aaron (in person); Yaa, Jasmine, Anu (phone)

Agenda:

  1. Debrief from R Training Session 1 and 2 a. Review Post-Training Evaluations (Kashmira)
  2. Plan for recording/distributing materials a. Esp from Session 2 b. Final materials – Sharepoint vs. Github
  3. Sessions 3 and 4 a. Material development (script, presentation, etc) b. Communication to audience c. Presenters and facilitators d. Dates
  4. Review action items, POCs, and timelines

ACTION STEPS:

NOTES:

  1. Debrief from R Training Evaluation
    • Reviewed evaluations submitted (only 11 thus far); #25 to see PDF of results
    • Thoughts from the group/lessons learned:
    • Went well but timing management wasn't good; might help to do a pilot of the session
    • Was good that the trainers took turns speaking
    • Group of participants were enthusiastic and engaged; had some prior programming experience
    • Participants liked knowing the "why" behind the code
      • Exercises took the most time out of the sessions but were very important in understanding
    • Working in partners happened organically; should ask participants to do this next time
    • More participant involvement in answering the exercises would be good
    • Make sure we run the exercise commands beforehand
    • Anticipate some time for issues with software, etc.
  2. Plan for recording/distributing materials
    • Shazad open to doing this; clean up the comments (Kashmira to provide participant insight)
      • Shazad to do a joint Session 1 and 2 recording on Open EdEx
      • Katya to send Shazad information on the EdEx platform
  3. Sessions 3 and 4:
    • Continuity issue with participants; should we only allow participants from Sessions 1/2 to attend? Should we require those who didn't attend Sessions 1/2 to view the recording?
    • Combine 3 and 4 into one day if we're going to do it live
    • Planning will include: core competencies, develop content/scripts; basic slide set; exercise immediately after; solutions
    • Will need a primary POC for Sessions 3 and 4 as ICF has been advised not to take on new projects; no other volunteers at this time; Jasmine to follow-up with Leads

What would you do differently for the following sessions?

@shazadahmed10 what video recording software do you have approved? I have Techsmith Camtasia approved and we could always use my computer to record videos, but do you have anything approved? Camtasia or Recordit or ActivePresenter? Or any others with video editing (besides adobe connect). I'd focus on tidying up the code/commenting in the next 2 weeks and then we can meet to record when I get back (week of Sept 17). does that sound good?
