Hello,

ICPI would like to invite you to Sessions 3 and 4 of the ICPI R Training Series! This 1.5 day training will begin on Thursday, 10/18 at 10AM and end on Friday, 10/19 by 12PM. We will share the detailed agenda as we get closer to the training days.

All participants are required to have either attended Sessions 1 and 2 or reviewed the recordings linked here for these sessions. All participants must also submit the culminating exercise from Sessions 1 and 2 to icpi@state.gov by Wednesday, 10/17.

If you'd like to attend Sessions 3 and 4, please RSVP by emailing icpi@state.gov no later than Friday, 10/5.

@kkale25 looks good. I suggest including a little more information from sessions 1 and 2. Maybe a PDF of the email communications, a summary of info or the session outline from 1&2 as well as the links to the resources and recordings.

If you'd like to attend Sessions 3 and 4, please RSVP by emailing icpi@state.gov no later than Friday, 10/5.

All participants must fulfill the following requirements (please complete the entire list before training day):

  1. Have R and R Studio installed on their computers

    • Download R here
    • Download R Studio here
  2. Review recordings of Sessions 1 and 2 (if you did not attend Sessions 1 and 2, you must review these recordings and complete the exercises to be eligible to attend Sessions 3 and 4)

  3. Submit the Culmination Exercises for both Session 1 and Session 2 to icpi@state.gov by Wednesday, 10/17. You will not receive a training completion certificate without submitting these to ICPI!

@hessionra @kkale25 I'd suggest adding a bit more info on what will be covered on day 1 and 2 - even just a glimpse. Like, data management/analysis on day one, and day two will focus on data visualization. This way, people who are traveling can plan accordingly.

Sure...will add to this thread. Let's wait to send out calendar invites to those planning on attending I'd say.

Proposed content assignments:

For each of the three sub-groups above, the coordinator should delegate the following tasks to be completed by the following due dates:

By the end of this week (COB 10/5) 1) Draft and circulate learning objectives 2) Create and circulate a basic slide outline or skeleton 3) Test some code on the GoT training dataset (do not need to share or circulate yet unless you want feedback or need help from the group) 4) Circulate any supplemental datasets that you will use besides the training GOT dataset, in .RData or RDS format.

By Thursday 10/11 COB 1) Post or circulate some draft code for your section 2) Complete main bullet points and at minimum visualization placeholders or mockups in your slides

By Friday COB or Monday after the inbrief • Review what has been shared; send feedback to the group based on others’ shared materials, if any

Runthrough on Tuesday 10/16 • Runthrough of revised code and slides, with supplemental facilitators
