kick off PVA training project

Objectives:

chop 1 hour recordings into 4-6 min videos
create new non-GoT mock dataset
update R scripts and exercise questions

Work Plan (in order): -Scan the original topics to see which ones are still relevant and which functions are not obsolete and best to use for topic (ex: gather/spread obsolete now) -create new mock dataset (take stock of what datasets currently included for each session. Include same indicators, etc) -update R scripts and exercises based off of new dataset -start writing scripts for initial videos -record and release videos in staggered manner (session 1 first, then others) -at the end of each session, add knowledge check questions to see what addtl topics users want to see. Then, incorporate feedback into next session’s videos -have videos reviewed for clarity, etc

Next Steps: -setup meeting for choosing topics and new mock dataset requirements (Shazad) -check with PRIME systems & comm team about coding in EdX (Jess) -adjust roles and responsibilities as needed

Reached out to PRIME team 8/10; Paige consulting with Appsembler/edX folks to verify whether coding in the system possible. Stated will follow-up by EOW.

Did not hear anything back - emailed to follow-up 8/18.

Meeting 8/12:

Confirmed we will be using Solar System Mock dataset, which is in MSD structure. Josh/Aaron maintain the code. Will need to reach out to Josh to see if he can update this dataset once Q3 data is released next week.

Decided on topics for first set of videos as well. #39

Next Steps:

ask Josh to update solar system dataset
waiting on PRIME comms team to respond to Jess
once dataset is updated, we can start updating R script and exercise questions to reflect new dataset
can start working on video scripts (Jess/Shazad)
