Figure Part as @epub:type #11

Hey there,

some of the publishing houses for which we create EPUB3 Workflows have the wish that figure parts should be added to the landmarks. Therefore, a special epub:type attribute value would be appreciated.

The data that we convert to XML and EPUB is mostly designed for printing, but also designed for XML last workflows. This means that separate files or chapters containing only figures are included (to be printed on different types of paper for example) and then later included in the XML/EPUB.

I would be very happy, if such a new value would be considered.

Best Regards, Maren

Hi,

We are no longer adding terms to the epub:type vocabulary, as most terms aren't used by reading systems or assistive technology. Instead, we are moving towards using the HTML role attribute, and the DPUB-ARIA vocabulary. You can suggest new terms at https://github.com/w3c/dpub-aria/issues

I'm not quite sure what a "figure part" is. Are you referring to the separate file containing only figures?
