This is a great question. I'm glad to see you thinking deeply about this problem.
The short answer is that I'll be satisfied if you can calculate either A, B, and/or C...as long as you can justify why you think that calculation will be the most useful/appropriate in terms of the overall goal of safely navigating your robot through the space. In other words, if you're trying to maneuver a robot of a fixed size through a gap, how can you determine (or reasonably estimate) if the gap is large enough?

In part 1 of homework, we are asked to calculate the gap between the obstacles. The objects are aligned at an angle.
Along which direction should we consider the gap?
I am attaching a pdf of (x,y) plots of all points with 3 alternatives of which gap to be considered. Please refer to the pdf and let me know whether the gap you are expecting us to calculate is either A,B or C.
