Update on the documentation needed #20

Hi,

I was having a look at windIO and the idea is very good but I think that more effort is needed to make it a standard for the industry. In particular, the documentation does not seem up to date: several variables are present in the ymal examples and not cited in the documentation. Also, a more detailed description of the reference systems used (maybe with some pictures) would be helpful. For example, we can understand the location of the center of the reference system for the hub by intuition but a clear statement in the documentation would be very helpful.

hoping the work will go ahead, Best,

Gregorio

Hello Gregorio, thanks for the message. Yes, the work will go ahead. We've recently been approved to conduct the new IEA Wind TCP Task 55 https://iea-wind.org/task-55/, and WP2 is dedicated to the improvements of windIO. The kickoff meeting for Task 55 will be on Thursday November 2nd in Broomfield, CO. The first hour, between 8.30 and 9.30 am MT will be hybrid on Teams, please let me know if you'd like to join. Some of the improvements that are needed are listed here https://github.com/IEAWindTask37/windIO/wiki/The-next-round-of-improvements-to-windIO and I've just added a couple of items taken from your message. Best regards, Pietro
