There should be a page that explains our department's funding process. #17

(This isn't one of the things for just the webmaster).

I feel that there should be a page on our website that explains the department's funding process. It's actually still a little unclear to me and some of the other SAB members as well. This may be a major impediment to getting new members to join and participate in the EE SAB; they don't have enough information to work with.

For example if someone had an idea for the department, where would they start? Can we guide them easily through the process? The answer right now is no; it takes a lot of heavy lifting from our side still. There are ideas and proactive students floating out there, but we may be losing them because the process is not easy enough.

The discussion notes from Dr. Shiroma about the x96 project lab technician sparked this - I had forgotten that in additional to the professional fees, there are non-professional fees and funds that can be used to support certain things. This is a very useful thing to know! All of our board members should know this!

I can include what I know about how the Professional Fees get spent around as I would like to see if I understand it clearly. I could put it in a diagram and we can have it on the website.

@cliwanag: There has been discussion here and there, but no concrete document that describes how things work. If you could help push something while you're doing the SAB fees request, that would be great. I suggest we start by getting some very early details from Dr. Shiroma/Ohta, pushing it out there and then revising as we go along.

Something like a list would be great to start off:

1. Student Fees Representative collects student feedback
2. SAB collaborates and prioritizes requests based on student input
3. SAB passes this document to the assigned faculty member
4. etc.
