SVG Profile for Symbols #1

New SVG profile approved

The proposal to change the SVG profile for the symbols is accepted in the S-101 Portrayal sub Working group but needs to be endorsed by S1000WG8.

This means that all the inland specific symbols have to be redesigned according to the requirements in the new profile. For each symbol, an engineering picture has to be developed and uploaded in the IHO GI Registry.

Changes to the symbols in the IHO GI Registry should be bulk changed by the IHO (with KHOA support?) at the earliest opportunity. We need to ask Jeff if this is also applicable for the inland domain symbols.

The S-101 Portrayal subworking group will only convert the hydro symbols for the new PC 1.3.0 but there is still no decision taken about the bulk registration of the new elements. According to Jeff Wootton, this should be explained and discussed at the next HSSC.

IEHG has converted the inland symbols and forwarded them to Yong Baek. KHOA will analyse them and give feedback on the result.

For the bulk registration of the S-401 SVG Symbols, the IEHG had to ask an exception on the S-99 procedures during the last HSSC meeting. This wasn't communicated to the IEHG. Therefore, IEHG was adviced to add a comment in the action list of the meeting. Denise forwarded the comment and question for exception to the HSSC and IHO.
