I've had a response on OpenBadges bug #1005. So, I've implemented the suggested fix - replacing backslashes in URLs in the JSON output ("\/" to "/"),

Commit/ changeset: 89fea603238c1f7262

Fixed I hope!

I haven't had a response on the Google Group thread. So I've raised an issue on the OpenBadges repository:

I've tried uploading a badge to my backpack this morning, and it works!

So, is the bug resolved, or is it intermittent? A puzzle :-/
