Hi @dcominottim , I would like to know the below details from your side.

  1. May I know the game version which you are playing is a free version? Please confirm the game link https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/product/overwatch
  2. To further know about the FPS drop could you share a video for our reference ?

Hi, @IntelSupport-Arun.

  1. Yes, it's Overwatch 2 -- which is free. The old game (OW 1) used to be paid, but version 2 is free for everyone.
  2. I will try to capture it in video. The most important thing is the crashes, though.

Screenshot (947)

Have just got this crash for the first time when trying to start the game (no game logs are generated in this case).

Couple of things that might be relevant:

  1. The PC has been left on for a couple days, without rebooting.
  2. I have been logged to 2 Windows accounts/sessions simultaneously for a couple days (still am).

Indeed, I have just confirmed that the second Windows session had something to do with it. I signed off on the other session and Overwatch 2 was able to launch again. I have tried replicating the issue by signing in with the second Windows account again, switching to the first/main user/session, and trying to launch OW again, but it succeeded. I guess point 1 (that the PC and both Window sessions had been running for a couple days) plays a significant part.

About the slowdown, I was able to replicate it: just kill the application, re-join an online match, and everything will stutter a lot for the first ~30 or so seconds after re-joining the game.

hi @dcominottim, We have verified the issue but it is not reproducible in our system for one hour, two hours and overnight playing the game. We will try again with the latest 4032 driver to confirm it. Meanwhile, can you try 31.0.101.4032 and update us if it is working for you?.

Good evening. I am traveling because of New Year and should test it next weekend; then I'll report back. Thanks.

hi @dcominottim, do you have any chance to try on the latest driver 4032?

dcominottim commented 1 year ago

Same crashes all the time. Please debug the logs and fix it.

IntelSupport-Rozilah commented 1 year ago

hi @dcominottim, I just tested on latest 4032 driver and didn't observe the issue, can you please share os build info as the screenshot below? image

IntelSupport-Rozilah commented 1 year ago

hi @dcominottim, Thanks for sharing those information, as i can see you are in the latest windows update.

  1. FYI, we have tested on the latest 4032 driver on both our systems : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700K and Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11700K, the issue is not observed. Tested with 1 hour, 2 hours and overnight still not observed the issue.
  2. Could you try changing any of the video graphic settings ( antialias quality: off) or other settings and observe if the issue still observe?
EstebanIntel commented 1 year ago

@dcominottim, one extra question: do you have CMAA enabled in Arc Control's Global Settings? If so, can you also try disabling it?

dcominottim commented 1 year ago

@EstebanIntel, thanks a lot for the tip! I double-checked and noticed CMAA was set to "Enhance Application". I changed it to "Application Choice" and, so far, I haven't experienced crashes -- will play some long sessions in the next couple days and report back.

dcominottim commented 1 year ago

@EstebanIntel. I believe the issue can be closed, from my side. I have played for >1h straight yesterday and haven't been able to reproduce the crashes anymore ever since I set CMAA to "Application Choice". Thanks a lot for the support.

@dcominottim, thanks for the confirmation!

@IGCIT can you please mark this as closed?
