Description and steps to reproduce [Required]

Titles, menus and cut scenes are okay but gameplay colours are displaying a bug on all of the gameplay. The colours are all bright white or bright yellow and without any contrast. Sometimes the colours display correctly but this is about 30% of the time. In short this bug is extremely easy to find as it is present in almost every setting I have tried. This is not a bug which affects only a couple of settings or a single resolution. It makes the game impossible to play.

I would be very grateful if you are able to identify and fix this bug.

hi @poulan9,

  1. Thanks for contacting Intel, can you confirm which game version that issue occur? image
  2. can you attach a video or screenshot of the issue so that easy for us to verify the issue?
poulan9 commented 1 year ago

Hello. Yes that is the correct version of the game you have found in the steam store.

I'm attaching a photo of how the game looks. Dakar-Desert-Rally_20221008105518-01

IntelSupport-Rozilah commented 1 year ago

@poulan9 , we will start to verify the issue once the system is ready. Stay tuned!

IntelSupport-Rozilah commented 1 year ago

hi @poulan9,

  1. we just start to verify the issue but seem like you used wrong graphic driver(31.0.101.4032) actually for Arc graphic driver(dGPU) and not for iGPU. can you confirm it?
  2. If you reported for iGPU, we start verify the issue on latest iGPU driver 31.0.101.3790 and having very low of performance issue and lagging but we do not observe the graphic colour issue as for now. can you confirm it as well?
  3. can you please attach the video game recorded if possible?
poulan9 commented 1 year ago

I am downloading the driver from my Intel CPU's product page here so if this is incorrect then let me know but it plays fine with almost every other game. I am now using the latest driver but cannot record the video I'm afraid. Were you able to replicate the issue?

IntelSupport-Rozilah commented 1 year ago

hi @poulan9,

  1. product page here is for Intel external graphic driver (Arc) , from ssulog.txt attached i believed you try using Intel internal graphic driver to play the game. If yes then you should use Intel® Graphics – Windows* DCH Drivers for internal graphic driver.
  2. As for now we able to replicate the issue with latest internal graphic driver( 31.0.101.3790) that having very low of performance issue and lagging but we do not observe the graphic colour issue . can you confirm with this driver?.
  3. If you are able to confirm of the issue then we can escalate to the next level for the fix.
IntelSupport-Rozilah commented 1 year ago

hi @poulan9, can you answer my question below, so that I can escalate the issue fast?

poulan9 commented 1 year ago

I will reinstall the game and retry it with 1.0.101.3790 when I have a moment.

IntelSupport-Rozilah commented 1 year ago

hi @poulan9, do you have any updates for us?

poulan9 commented 1 year ago

I should be able to try it this weekend.

IntelSupport-Rozilah commented 1 year ago

hi @poulan9,

The case has been verified on our side and we are able to reproduce with low performance that makes the game impossible to play but we are not observing the graphic issue on our system. I will inform your observation as well to the Internal team about this. Our configurations as below: Processor: Intel(R) Core i7-11700K Graphic Driver version: 31.0.101.4091/31.0.101.3790/ 31.0.101.4123(Beta) We will be working on a fix. I want to give you a heads-up that the fix may take 3 to 6 months to be included.

poulan9 commented 1 year ago

I have reinstalled this now and the graphical issue was there as soon as I started the free roam mode with the first motorcycle in the list. Yes, considering how few NPCs or objects there are on screen, the performance is slow.

The driver I am using is: 31.0.101.4091 bug

1. [product page here](https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/208661/intel-core-i71160g7-processor-12m-cache-up-to-4-40-ghz-with-ipu/downloads.html) is for Intel external graphic driver (Arc) , from ssulog.txt attached i believed you try using Intel internal graphic driver to play the game. If yes then you should use [Intel® Graphics – Windows* DCH Drivers](https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19344/intel-graphics-windows-dch-drivers.html) for internal graphic driver.

Your advice above does seem to be at odds with what the Intel Driver Assistant is directing me to download. Also the driver version numbers are part of the same series. Are you sure your advice is right?

hello @poulan9! image

The issue can be reproduce only in LOW and MEDIUM options for the "Effects" section under the Graphics, but if we use a higher value, the orange palette disappears, as you can verify in the picture above.

Would be awesome if you could double check this and see if we have the behavior.

BTW the issue was replicate on a 11th gen desktop processor using 4091 driver Also, 11th gen processor with a Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics iGPU integrated (and above) uses the driver that the Intel Driver Assistant recommend you (30.0.101.4146) So you are ok with that matter

Karen-Intel commented 1 year ago

Hi @poulan9

I have confirmed the same orange screen with v4091 but I'm not seeing it anymore with v4146 I'm actively verifying this issue and here's what I found to help increase performance in this game.

  1. Make a clean driver install and make sure to uninstall driver 4091 with DDU.
  2. Install Driver 4146 for https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/208661/intel-core-i71160g7-processor-12m-cache-up-to-4-40-ghz-with-ipu/downloads.html. This is the one you should use.
  3. Try to use the following settings. In my experience the best Graphics configuration is most settings in LOW, Distance: NEAR, V-SYNC OFF, Full screen, 1600x900. With this you'll have around 25-30 FPS which is quite acceptable

Please give it a try, we'll be waiting for your feedback :)

Great find Arturo! It's only in low/medium effects which is what I use because this is a low power igpu. Thank you for this and the info on the driver.

Thank you for the driver web page, I will use it in future. The bug still exists in 4146 if you set effects to low or medium. As Arturo stated, it's not present in high settings.

I get 25 FPS which is just about OK but with frequent dips to 13 FPS making it unplayable. Also when you play online against others, it never gets higher than 13 FPS which is completing unplayable. Even 25FPS is very low considering most of the game is open spaces with very few NPCs. I get over 40 FPS in Cyberpunk which should play much worse than this game.

Karen-Intel commented 1 year ago

Ohh I see, okay. Let me do some more testing in this game mode and will get back to you Karen

Karen-Intel commented 1 year ago

Hi @poulan9

We have confirmed the orange screen and we're also investigating the FPS dropping in online mode. Both issues have been reported w/driver v.4146 and a fix is already being worked on. Like we mentioned before, the fix may take 3 to 6 months to be posted so make sure to keep your drivers up to date. Also, remember to check Steam posts about this game, there are some threads about its performance that may be interesting to you.

Thanks a lot for your help. Talk to you soon

OK that's good to know thank you. The FPS even in offline mode is very poor. It should be around 40 FPS at 1080p as a minimum given how little NPCs and how little there is on the map - it's just hills and a few trees, the map is very empty. If the average was closer to 40 FPS then the low dips would be manageable but right now the game is unplayable.

Karen-Intel commented 1 year ago

Hi @poulan9

After careful review, it has been determined that the low FPS in this game is expected behavior. The orange color is also an issue that has been detected with DX12 so the changes need to be done within the game to have flawless compatibility with Intel Integrated Graphics. We apologize for the inconveniences and deeply appreciate your efforts which helped us report internally.

@IGCIT Can you please help us close this post?

Thank you

poulan9 commented 1 year ago

So this bug doesn't get flagged with the developer or to DX12 developers? The bug just stays forever?
