Description and steps to reproduce [Required]

With all graphic settings set to ultra settings_ultra the visual effect for lightsaber blade missing_vfx is not rendered, same happens with the laser beams of blaster weapons missing_vfx2 Setting the anti-aliasing to "medium" solves the missing effects issue. Another issue is frequent stutter while walking around on the fleet. Setting the shadow quality to "low" seems to fix that or at least makes it less noticeable.

Hi @victorpravdin ,

Thank you for reaching out to us. We will test this issue on our lab and will come back to you soon. Please stay tuned.

I have discovered another performance issue, this time with the grass render. If you go into an area with lots of grass, for example at this point near the Jedi temple on Tython image the FPS drops radically. With the grass quality set to 100 (and the rest of the settings as in my initial post) the FPS is around 30-40 in the said position, and on Onderon image it even falls below 20 fps. If the grass quality is set to 0 it goes to over 120 fps. image Strangely enough, the tree quality doesn't seem to have any impact on the FPS.

hi @victorpravdin , just want confirmation about the version of the game that you observed the issue, have you observed the issue in Play for Free or Standard Edition? https://www.ea.com/games/star-wars/star-wars-the-old-republic image

victorpravdin commented 1 year ago

Hi @IntelSupport-Rozilah , As far as I understand they both are the same game version, it's just that free-to-play players don't have access to some game features. At least in my region it's like that. Anyhow, I play the subscription version (which I believe is called "Standard Edition" on your screenshot), patched to the latest 7.2b game update. But I think that for the test purposes the free version should be enough, as I said I believe the game itself is the same, as soon as subscription runs out it goes back to the "limited" variant. Just bear in mind that to get a lightsaber to test the vfx issue you'll need to finish the first planet's story of a force user, it awards the lightsaber in the end. I suggest republic's Jedi Knight or Councilar, they both start on Tython so you can check the grass issue as well. Alternatively you can buy one on the fleet but you won't be able to get there until you're level 7.

IntelSupport-Rozilah commented 1 year ago

hi @victorpravdin, Thanks for the details, then we will start to verify the issue with free-to-play and i noticed that OS system that you used was Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise Build 19044. I couldn't find this iso file for Enterprise and can you provide the link for download the iso?. If no we will proceed to replicate the issue on "Microsoft Windows 10 Home Build 19044".

victorpravdin commented 1 year ago

Sorry I can't provide you with the iso, it's a company license.

IntelSupport-Rozilah commented 1 year ago

ok then we will replicate the issue on "Microsoft Windows 10 Home Build 19044" because still in the same build.

IntelSupport-Rozilah commented 1 year ago

hi @victorpravdin, The case has been verified on our side and we are able to reproduce it with our configurations as below: Processor: i7-11700K Graphic Driver version: 31.0.101.4032/31.0.101.4090(Beta)

Note:

  1. we able to replicate on performance issue, the issue was observed when navigate the character to the grass area, then the FPS value will drop until 14. If turn the view to building it will go up much higher value around 100.
  2. For the visual effect for lightsaber blade seem like working fine from our side

we will report this issue on performance issue internally and will be working on a fix. I want to give you a heads-up that the fix may take 3 to 6 months to be included.

victorpravdin commented 1 year ago

I have tried the latest driver 31.0.101.4091 and the lightsaber blade glitch is still there. I see that you couldn't reproduce it; perhaps I can provide some more information in some way? I tried it with several cartel market sabers as well as the one that you can buy on the fleet at level 7, and all of them don't show the blade when I switch to the very high anti-aliasing.

victorpravdin commented 1 year ago

@IntelSupport-Rozilah Here's another example of the missing lightsaber blades, and you don't even need to acquire one. Go to the Gnarls on Tython (it's the very first area you enter as a jedi knight/councilor after you start the new character): image There are several jedi watchmen there fighting the respawning enemies, they all have lightsabers and you can easily see that it disappears on the very high AA setting: image

IntelSupport-Rozilah commented 1 year ago

hi @victorpravdin, Thanks for the quick reply and your explanation. I just observed the lightsaber blades issue after checking on Jedi Watchman and reported the update internally. Please do not close the case until they fix the issue.

ArcAngel1984 commented 1 year ago

Hello all,

I can confirm the graphics problems with Star Wars: The old Republic. They occur in the paid version as well as in the free2play version.

IntelSupport-Rozilah commented 1 year ago

hi all, I would like to inform that our driver development team is already investigating the issue. The process will take from 3-6 months, and as soon as we have any update on this issue we will reach out to you again.

EstebanIntel commented 1 year ago

Hi @victorpravdin, the latest driver version 31.0.101.4314 has a possible fix for this issue. Can you please test it?

victorpravdin commented 1 year ago

Hi @victorpravdin, the latest driver version 31.0.101.4314 has a possible fix for this issue. Can you please test it?

@EstebanIntel I can confirm that the issues of missing visual effects for the lightsaber blades on high AA and the performance drop for high grass settings are fixed for 31.0.101.4314 but a new issue was created. Setting all graphics settings on Ultra creates texture tearing: image Changing the "Texture anisotropy" in the graphics settings to Off removes the tearing. The easiest way to see is on the character selection screen but it happens to all textures in the world. Shall I create a new GitHub issue for this or we keep it in this thread?

EstebanIntel commented 1 year ago

@victorpravdin that's great news the original issue is resolved for you! Now, to correctly track issues, can please close this one (since you confirmed it is resolved), and submit a new one with this new report?
