@leoben2 we're seeing performance and visual regression on this title since 27.20.100.9616.

evang-x commented 2 years ago

Hello,

Can you please provide information on which Forza Horizon and edition you are having issues with?

pacoa-kdbg commented 2 years ago

Not sure about performance, but ln the Game pass edition I was able to reproduce the crash on the menu shen going to the settings

evang-x commented 2 years ago

Is this issue happening with Forza Horizon 3, 4, or 5?

pacoa-kdbg commented 2 years ago

Forza horizon 4

evang-x commented 2 years ago

Thank you for the information. Is this the Steam or Microsoft Store version of the game?

pacoa-kdbg commented 2 years ago

@evang-x Microsoft store (game pass)

Hi all,

We have been able to reproduce both reported issue (the game crash and the stuttering). Both issues have had possible fixes developed and I expect these fixes to be included in our next driver version. I’ll let you know the ETA for this next driver version so you can test the possible fixes.

Hello, can you please test latest driver 30.0.100.9955 to see if there are still performance issues?

Thank you!

Saracchini commented 2 years ago

I just played Forza Horizon 4. Windows 10 21H1, driver 30.0.100.9955, steam version. TDP fix enabled.

There are crashes in certain menus. The most reproducible being in the Title Screen menu, by going to settings menu and trying to go back. I had another when going from the pause menu to tuning menu, but I cannot reproduce it. Overall running the game with the default settings (let it determine by itself) is quite stable so far with only the aforementioned crash. I have locked 30 fps with default TDP (20-25W) and absolutely no drops (it is REALLY stable 30 fps). The game was set to 30 fps lock automatically. I'll try to run with higher limits and verify if there are issues.

Saracchini commented 2 years ago

Tested the game with 60 fps lock instead 30 (this is one of the video settings). The game runs easily at 60 fps at 720p , which is actually great ! It becomes much more crash prone however. Some races are not completable because the random crashes (no error message, just sudden freeze and the app closes). Problematic races are finishable with 30 fps lock however.

Saracchini commented 2 years ago

After a more thoroughful test, the game is kind of unstable in menus that are available later in the game. Namelly the ones which are enabled after completing the introductory section of the game (enabling Autumn season, finishing the mandatory event race of this season). That is specially frequent in car selection ones (garage, shopping, auctioning) and modding (car customization, adding parts, tunning). Just going through accessories quickly can cause an immediate crash. Looking at the Event Viewer, there's a driver error ("Display - Display driver igfxn stopped responding and has successfully recovered") besides the usual Application Crash event (which is not very much informative).

Hi all,

The new driver version 30.0.101.1069 can now be downloaded at https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19344/intel-graphics-windows-dch-drivers.html.

This driver includes the possible fix for both the performance issue and the game crash reported. Please help us test it and let us know.

Saracchini commented 2 years ago

Tested 1069. Managed to go through the entire tunning screen and options and so far I had no crashes. Did a 20 minutes test going though a variety of menus and options that previously were very unstable and did not had crashes of any sort. I did not see loss of performance so far too. I'll report if I see further issues.

Saracchini commented 2 years ago

Ran for almost 3 hours in almost one sitting(never it happened before !). No crashes of any sort. The only visible issue I could find is black car logos in certain occasions. Besides that performance is still good and very stable !

halljames commented 2 years ago

So, my official Forza Horizon 4 testing with intel drivers 1069 Time played in total : 4 hours Number of times oxp put into standby, and resumed while game running : 2 Times Battery warning appeared : 1 Times entered settings menu to tweak display settings : 2 Times entered game menu and map : 5 FPS at 1440 x 900 and Medium Dynamic Settings : 50 - 60 Number of crashes : 0

Test still ongoing, very happy with results.

mva94 commented 2 years ago

@halljames appreciate it, will still wait a day or so before closing the issue to make sure nobody raises any new/other issues

Saracchini commented 2 years ago

Managed to reproduce the black borders. The issues do not show in Photo mode, but do show in free-roaming. Specially if the car is covered on decals.

Photo mode (how logos are supposed to be): forzaok2 forzaok3

Free-roaming/in-race (black border): forzanok forzanok2

Bryce-7995 commented 2 years ago

@Saracchini @mva94 Looks like the fix is holding for crash and poor perf. We should close this out then. Is there an issue opened for the black border? I'd suggest do a search and if not entered already please do so. Thanks for all the effort folks! Love that we're getting these issues closed out!
