Hi all,

Regarding the game crashing issue, sometimes I forget about the whole shared RAM with integrated, so throwing it out there just in case it helps you. iGPUs share the system memory with the CPU they come integrated with, usually half for each (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000020962/graphics.html). This means that a system with 8GM of RAM would see it split as 4GB for the CPU and 4GB VRAM for the iGPU.

This should be taken into consideration for a game’s minimum requirements. For example, Death Stranding asks for 8GB of CPU memory PLUS 3GB of GPU memory (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1190460/DEATH_STRANDING/). So, if you are planning to run the game with an Integrated Graphics CPU, that system will need at least 16GB of system memory, so that the OS will split it 8GB for each and meet the 8GB of CPU RAM the game asks for.

Now, on the other issue mentioned regarding glitchy textures, just wanted to let you guys know this is been worked on. It has been reported into our internal bug reporting tool, under ID# 22012335296. A possible fix has been developed and is expected to be included in our next driver release. I’ll be sure to keep you guys posted when we have an ETA for the next driver version, so you can help us test if the possible fix works as expected.

@estebanr863 appreciate you taking the time to explain.

The crash was reported on my device which has 16gb of ram.

Also do you have any idea why the games takes at least 10 minutes to load ?

Thank you

EstebanIntel commented 2 years ago

Hey @mva94,

We tried to reproduce the game crash issue in our lab, but it only crashed when using 8GB of system memory. When we increased the memory to 16GB, we are not seen the crash anymore. And this since to match with what @PacoAvelar reported. It would be great if someone else can try this out and let us know.

Regarding the loading times, we also tried it in our lab and saw loading times of several minutes, but only on the first time we launched the game. Any other time after the first launch the loading times were much faster. This seem to be related to the game building up the shader cache. But as I mentioned, this is necessary only on the game’s first launch.

pacoa-kdbg commented 2 years ago

I can confirm that latest driver (9955) also doesnt crash, it is just the graphical glitch that makes this game non enjoyable

mva94 commented 2 years ago

@estebanr863 I'm going to try it again this week end, i did so about a month ago and the game was still crashing every now and then with 16gb of ram, perhaps worth increasing virtual memory?

Loading time seems so be just as long everytime you start the game, @PacoAvelar can you double check how is your loading time?

KaeAlSa commented 2 years ago

I believe I am on the same device as @mva94 only possibly a different CPU, I have the 1195. I am on 9955 drivers. I can play death stranding fine and the load times seem normal. But my game crashes 100% reproducible when I try and place a ladder or climbing spikes.

pacoa-kdbg commented 2 years ago

@KaeAlSa can you share your save so it can be reproduced?

KaeAlSa commented 2 years ago

checkpoint.zip

pacoa-kdbg commented 2 years ago

can you share you full game saves path ? I tried to load just the checkpoint and it just says, data save corrupted

KaeAlSa commented 2 years ago

DeathStranding.zip

jfavelar commented 2 years ago

It keeps saying that the save data is corrupted :/

Are you using game version 1.06? (This is latest available on steam) You can find the game version by launching the game, on the main menu, just under "Quit Game" it says the "Game Version X"

KaeAlSa commented 2 years ago

Yes. 1.06 Screenshot (3)

KaeAlSa commented 2 years ago

Also I just loaded it to confirm and it's in the right spot and took about 30 seconds to load

EstebanIntel commented 2 years ago

Hi all,

We were able to reproduce the game crash issue reported by @KaeAISa and it is now in our driver development team’s queue.

Regarding the graphics corruption issue with the grass “shooting up to the sky” reported by @PacoAvelar. This issue was previously reported internally, and a possible fix has now been developed. We expect this fix to be included in the next driver release. I’ll keep you posted when this new driver is released so you can help test this fix.

KaeAlSa commented 2 years ago

@estebanr863 great thank you!

EstebanIntel commented 2 years ago

@PacoAvelar the new driver is now live https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19344/intel-graphics-windows-dch-drivers.html. This driver includes the possible fix for the issue you reported. Please help us test it and let us know.

EstebanIntel commented 2 years ago

@KaeAISa, just to set the correct expectations, our development team has a very large queue of issue to work on. So, this fix could take from 3 to 6 month to be included in a driver release.

KaeAlSa commented 2 years ago

@estebanr863 I completely understand, it's nice to have it on the list at all. I can wait. I did try the new version of the driver and obviously the crash still happens. I appreciate you checking it out.

pacoa-kdbg commented 2 years ago

Got a different error this time with latest driver, I am trying to get to the same area that was always doing graphical glitches https://youtu.be/di1uhkgbsl8

pacoa-kdbg commented 2 years ago

After that crash, game gets playable with no graphical glitches DS_New s

KaeAlSa commented 2 years ago

I am no longer crashing while using tools on the latest 1191 driver!

EstebanIntel commented 2 years ago

Hi all,

Yes, we can confirm the issue is no longer present with driver 30.0.101.1191

@IGCIT abd @mva94, can we close this one?
