The second time worked, btw
@TheWonderfulTartiflette looks like specific to system state cause I tried to update same driver via IDSA on my setup couple of times but it was all fine. Its good to know that it is working well but can you keep an eye on specifics before/after if you run into this issue again and share the logs from below locations :
C:\ProgramData\Intel\GFXInstaller\IntelGfx.log
C:\Windows\INF\setupapi.dev.log
@TheWonderfulTartiflette would you agree to close this thread as of now and reopen it with the suggested logs and specific repro steps for us to try and simulate at our end.
@Vivek-Intel sorry, i always forget to set reminders for things like these. I'll send them to you as soon as I get home
@Vivek-Intel IntelGFX.log setupapi.dev.log Here they are, very sorry for the wait
logs shows successful installation of 5186, reboot in between installation may be because of uninstallation of previous drivers but installer should self kick in after such reboots.
I would recommend you to DDU every time when updating the driver to avoid any such glitches.
Thanks. Maybe this could be an area of improvement, where we wouldn't have to use a third party software to install new drivers
yes it is something that can be improved. sometimes clean install or uninstaller does not remove some leftover files/registry entries so suggested to DDU in safe mode specially when such glitches occur.
@IGCIT please help close this thread as user is not facing this problem anymore

I was installing the latest driver through DSA. When the driver was installing (the part of the installation where the screen goes nuts), my PC just rebooted by itself. I wasn't looking at the installation window, so I don't know what could have been shown in it. The installation window was unfocused, and I was watching a YouTube video. All I was able to find in the Event Viewer was this (not sure this is due to the reboot) : A provider, IntelMEProv, has been registered in the Windows Management Instrumentation namespace root\Intel_ME, to use the LocalSystem account. This account is privileged and the provider can cause a security breach if it does not correctly represent user requests. I was also able to get this in the Diagnostic Data Viewer : Description Faulting Application Path: C:\Windows\System32\WerFault.exe Creation Time: 25/01/2024 22:47:58 Problem: Arrêt non planifié Status: Rapport envoyé
