Could we add an 'other' category for annotation source that doesn't rely on having Ensembl or GeneBank IDs?
Related to having an import path for non coding biologists (#256) I could see two use cases for this functionality:
Non-coding users get a table of results from the sequencing core or collaborators that isn't mapped to Ensemble/GeneBank IDs but want to open it in gEAR and don't have the data, ability or interest to reannotate.
Users use a different annotation source either due to project design, preference etc. and want to replicate their publication figures in gEAR with their chosen gene symbols and IDs.
I know its an ongoing effort to add more annotation sources but having an other category (maybe include a check that if the other category is selected, the annotation linkouts are grayed out) would be a stopgap for annotations we haven't gotten to adding yet or those we don't plan on adding due to limited interest.
