Can a Document Source Indicate if the Document Should Be Persisted In ITI-106? #195

Section Number Identify the most specific section number the issue occurs (e.g. 4.1.2)

1:33.1.3.6

Issue Describe your issue. Don't write a book, but do include enough to indicate what you see as a problem.

1:33.1.3.6 claims that the Document Source indicates if the document should also be persisted when invoking the ITI-106 transaction.

However, ITI-106 in 2:3.106.4.1.3 says:

"The Document Recipient shall persist the document, the Bundle will be persisted using the original mime-type from the operation."

It seems from this text that the Document Recipient shall always persist the document and so the Document Source does not indicate if the document should be persisted. Indeed, the operation does not seem to define a parameter for persistence.

Proposed Change Propose a resolution to your issue (e.g., suggested new wording or description of a way to address the issue). The committee might simply accept your suggested text. Even if they don't, it gives a good sense of what you are looking for. Leaving this blank means you can't imagine how to resolve the issue, which makes it easier for the committee to admit they can't imagine how to resolve it either and leave it unresolved.

If the Document Source should be allowed to specify whether the document shall be persisted, then update ITI-106 and the Generate Metadata operation to allow it to do so.

If the document shall always be persisted, then update section 1:33.1.3.6 to state that.

will fix volume 1 wording to not indicate that the Document Source can ask about persistance.
