Common metadata set for 3D objects

As a metadata librarian

I want to make sure that all 3D data is described with the same set of properties

So that collections of 3D objects can be searched and filtered

Some relevant properties I can think of:

• not specific to 3D objects (probably already covered by general metadata standards)
  • description (all kind of natural language fields such as title, description, history...)
  • technical properties (any kind of key-value data such as file format...)
  • document metadata (author, publisher, identifier...)
  • links to other 3D objects (typed links such as part-of, used-with...)
• specific to 3D objects
  • dimensions (size of a 3D-bounding box would be enough to differntiante between geographic objects, buildings, and small tools)
  • position and time (where is/was the object located? Important for archeology)
  • special capabilities
  • is it animated or a still object?
  • does it contain multiple layers, levels... to toggle on and of or one object?
  • ...?
