Request a snippet be created for later download #47

Open azaroth42 opened 7 years ago

Description

As it's expensive to create snippets (either by time, region or both) it would be useful to request a snippet, and then be notified later that the content is available for download. This would only be for download, rather than for playback.

Proposed Solutions

Could be notification by email rather than a web client interaction.

Use case we have is that we may allow access to a MP4 compressed video but allow request for high quality clips for users like production companies.

BFI use case - Digital Preservation Infrastructure Workstation - you're still going to work on the file in Premiere, but it greatly reduces the amount of data transferred if you can ask for a segment via a standardised format (e.g., 10 minutes of the 6 hr movie).

Has to wait for a robot to fetch the master, transcoding etc - but is a big bandwidth reduction.
