Hi there, I hope you are well. Thank you so much for reviving NewsMap! The older version gave information about the number of related articles when hovering over the thumbnail description and also there was a search box available for queries. Any possibility of implementing these options in the future?

Is the number of related articles a possibility? I see the 'Show sources before following link' but curious if the aggregate allows for total sources. Again, thanks for reviving NewsMap!

Hi Lindsay, sorry for not replying to your original question. Hopefully you're aware that it's now possible to search and filter stories.

Sources

As for the question about sources, Google typically provides between 1 and 5 sources for each story. All of these are always shown on the 'Show sources before following link' modal. I could add the number of sources to the tooltip. Is the example below similar to what you were thinking of?

I found this screenshot from the original Newsmap.jp. They used a rich tooltip and indicated thousands of linked articles/sources. That information simply isn't available in the current Google News RSS feed that NewsMap.JS uses. I'm not exactly sure how the original got its data from Google News, but I do know the RSS feed has changed over time - it once included images - a feature NewsMap.JS previously supported.
