How to get the 'Gironde3D_example.zip' ? #3

Open DJaloong opened 1 year ago

Dear Support Team,

I am new to TrackMPD and I am currently in the process of learning how to work with the provided examples. While attempting to understand the data input procedure, I noticed that both of the links provided in the 'instructions_download_Example_Gironde3D.txt' file are not allowing me to download the 'Gironde3D_example.zip' file. The first link requires a password, and it seems that the second link is no longer functional. Could you kindly assist me in obtaining the 'Gironde3D_example' file? This would greatly facilitate my learning process by allowing me to study the example through practical execution.

Best regards, Xianglong Li

Dear lsabel,

Thank you very much for your kind assistance. I attempted to run both Example_Gironde_3D and Example_Gironde_2D, but encountered certain issues during the process. While testing Example_3D, I noticed that my computer's available RAM falls short of requirements. I am curious if upgrading to 32GB of RAM would suffice for the model, or if it is advisable to consider running TrackMPD on a supercomputer for more computational resources.

Additionally, when running Example_2D, my computer's RAM was adequate, but it generated some warning messages as mentioned in the 'Tutorial_TrackMPDv2.3.' I am interested in knowing whether these warnings could potentially impact the simulation results. I have successfully obtained the output 'Gironde_test2D.mat.' If these warnings are of significant concern, would you be so kind as to provide guidance on how to address them effectively?

Best regards,

Xianglong Li

Dear Xianglong, Yes, it's recommended to use TrackMPD 3D in a super computer but if you want to run short simulation in your computer you may try to reduce the chunk length in the input file to try to avoid memory problems.

Regarding the warnings in the 2D version, they are normal, they are just alerting about some parameter ajustment or something to check just in case but they are not errors.

Hope this can help you. Best regards, Isabel

Dear Isabel,

I sincerely appreciate your generous assistance. I am currently working on utilizing a model created by MITgcm as the input module. I noticed that MITgcm is available for TrackMPD, as mentioned in your 2019 paper. However, I have been unable to locate the MITgcmtransforminput function. Therefore, I would like to inquire whether the support team possesses the transforminput function for MITgcm and if you could kindly provide it to me.

Thank you for your valuable help.

Best regards, Xianglong Li

Dear Xianglong, I'm sorry but we don't have the transformation function for that model. We mentioned it in the paper as a user was supposed to do it, but we never got feedback. But it should not be very difficult to build it as it is a structured grid. You can get inspired by the POM example in version 1: https://github.com/IJalonRojas/TrackMPD/releases/tag/v1 Best regards, Isabel
