The following is the peer review of the project proposal by Stock Sleuths. The team members that participated in this review are :
Remi Hendershott - @remisublette
Aditya Bandimatt - @bandimatt
Anudeep Appikatla- @anudeepappikatla0406
Neha Chaudhari - @nehachaudhari02
Conner Alubowicz - @calubowicz
Ravleen Kaur Chadha - @rkchadha
Describe the goal of the project.
To understand Tucson crime activity via data analysis and visualization, which can help towards safety initiatives.
Describe the data used or collected.
Tucson Police reported crime data set, it contains variables on type of crime, location, and time of crime occurring. It has 14 columns with over 180,000 rows of data on the crimes reported.
Describe how the research question will be answered, e.g. what approaches / methods will be used.
For their question one, they will focus on peak times of crimes and frequencies on specific types of crime. However, they do not go into detail about their approach or method to visualize their findings. For their second question, they will focus on location, crime type, and number of crimes. Yet again, they do not go into detail about their approach or method to visualize their findings.
Is there anything that is unclear from the proposal?
It is unclear what visualizations they plan to use or make to display their results. Their approach to answering their two questions is unclear, they only list their variables they plan to use, but they don't provide detail on how they will use them and the importance of them.
Provide constructive feedback on how the team might be able to improve their project.
First, they should remove the other two topic proposals off their proposal page, and only leave behind the Tucson Crime proposal. They need to detail their approach and analysis plan.
What aspect of this project are you most interested in and would like to see highlighted in the presentation.
It would be cool for them to highlight if crimes happen to occur more in areas away from police (and departmental) offices versus how many crimes occur closer to those locations, just as curiosity.
Provide constructive feedback on any issues with file and/or code organization.
Perhaps a more comprehensive view of their data they are using. However, their code is fully working and their files render properly.
(Optional) Any further comments or feedback?
Good job so far, just make sure to delete the other old 2 proposal topics and definitely add in your ideas to visualize, for example will they use bar plots, density plots, etc? It would be good for them to detail that.
