The following is the peer review of the project proposal by CristinaUAMS.
The team members that participated in this review are
-Cristina Lafuente - @CristinaUAMS
Goal of the project.
To determine which country will be the first, "space faring nation," as well as to examine the data to find whether any of the developing nations are engaged in space launches.
Data used or collected.
Data is collected by the UN and sourced from the TidyTuesday dataset on Outer Space Objects.
Likely need of dataset with mapping coordinates noted in the proposal.
(As a side note, I highly recommend you look into ggmap() and Stadia Maps for any mapping you want to
do https://builtin.com/data-science/ggmap)
How the research question will be answered, e.g. what approaches / methods will be used.
The analysis plan discusses plotting the number of launches per year on a map but I'm not entirely sure I understand how that will answer either of the questions.
Anything that is unclear from the proposal?
1) The definition of "space faring," and how that can be answered with the data given.
2) Will the plots for each be different? (Specifically, different types?)
3) Will the variables for each question be different?
4) Appears to be missing the table for the weekly plan of attack
Constructive feedback on how the team might be able to improve their project.
Question 2 is phrased like a binary question rather than one which would be answered on a plot. Presumably this is the one which would be best suited to be overlayed on a map question might be better phrased as which developing nation has launched the most satellites or something like that.
Aspect of this project are you most interested in and would like to see highlighted in the presentation.
I would be very interested in seeing the launches by country overlayed on a map. That would be really cool!
Constructive feedback on any issues with file and/or code organization.
Messages should be suppressed, p_load packages need to be on one line each, some spelling and minor grammatical errors throughout (need commas inside of quotation marks within sentences, choose instead of chose, etc...), file organization is as expected (nothing added to base repo)
(Optional) Any further comments or feedback?
I think the end result will be a very interesting project! I hope to see it :)
Thank you for the comments and suggestions. I've added a description of "space faring nation" to the proposal, I've also added a table defining reqired tasks by week.
