How many markers are we looking at for DNA profiles? #25

How many markers are used as minimum entry point of a DNA profile into your system? Because we are using 24 makers but i understand some countries are still using 16 markers and certainly there different minimum hits for DNA profiles in the database for a profile to be used. What standards have been set by INTERPOL.

From Donald M.

from Izanda P. - LV to everyone: 10:38 AM According to the Interpol DNA profile Search Request, for known person profiles a minimum of 10 full loci are required; for all other profile categories a minimum of 6 full loci (of those loci appearing on the Search Request form). from Izanda P. - LV to everyone: 10:38 AM This is for requesting searches, but I do not know if this also applies to the Interpol DNA database system as such.

This is postponed as discussions need to be held first with the DNA Experts as to what would be the best way to integrate DNA profiles within the NIST XML files, noting that the ISO 19794-14 is already being used along with INTERPOL's own format/standard.
