I haven't done much with GeoConnect because http://guides.dataverse.org/en/latest/installation/geoconnect.html?highlight=geoconnect has read
As of this writing, the README at https://github.com/IQSS/geoconnect recommends not installing Geoconnect at this time due to an ongoing rewrite of the WorldMap code.
for as long as I can remember. If this is important to include in dataverse-ansible and is tenable (local / heroku installation? registered with Harvard/Worldmap and so on) I could put the framework in place.
I suggested to @thu07 that he should create this issue. 😄
He's the first person to get Geoconnect installed in years. He used Vagrant on Windows, which is mentioned in the Geoconnect README, I think. This is a VM in VirtualBox.
He actually had Dataverse running in a different VM in VirtualBox, also spun up in Vagrant.
@thu07 let's chat sometime about if you think you can help with a pull request for all this. 😄 dataverse-ansible does have a Vagrant mode but I haven't used it much. That's probably the place to start.
Thank you both @donsizemore @pdurbin for the explanation. I always want to install everything just clicking one button. Maybe I'm the few people who care about the spatial data upload and visualization. Now, I'm familiar with the relations between Dataverse, Geoconnect, and WorldMap. I will install a separate Geoconnect and WorldMap on my VM. If in the near future, if the Geoconnect and WorldMap can be integrated into Dataverse-ansible. That would be awesome.
In the default Dataverse configurations, it connects to the public Geoconnect.
Is it possible to add the Geoconnect to the Dataverse-ansible installation files and build it locally?
