Gary and Stefano have proposed several user interface improvements described below.
This epic tracks progress towards designing, demonstrating, and implementing these new Dataverse pages using the SPA technology currently under development.
During the design phase, a proof of concept will be created for each new page and used to gather feedback from stakeholders, including the Dataverse UX Working Group.
Note that during the scoping phase of the project, the team should determine whether Tasks 3 and 4 are variants of one another or if they require different designs/approaches.
Tasks
1. Collection and dataset page Infinite scrolling enhancements
Goal: Continue to make requested improvements to current infinite scrolling feature
Status: Complete, June 2024
2. Search as the main entry feature for DV
Goal: Design, demonstrate, and implement a new Harvard Dataverse homepage featuring a single search box
Update: Emphasize for 6.5 release (if backend changes are needed)
Target Completion: December 2024
4. Design, implement, and test a more customizable collection page for Dataverse users
Gary requested improvements to his Dataverse collection home page to support user-defined and system-suggested groupings of datasets and other collections.
Stefano's Recommendation: split functionality into two components: 1) Customize filters on MyData/home page, 2) Enable users to create virtual collections that can contain content from other sources.
