It appears that sections for Metadata, Terms, and Permissions have been added to the User Guide in the 4.3.1 release.
With the development of a new file pg (#2465), we can track the seperation of dataset and file management in the guides in that issue.
Sending this issue to QA to close.
I don't think the issue Eleni raised in her doc review was addressed: the dataset section (was named edit dataset, renamed to be edit files) mostly talks about how to create a dataset in order to add files and talks alot about files.
What I think Eleni was getting at is what things should you consider when creating a dataset: what type of metadata should be entered, any templates, terms of use, and of course adding files, then whatever specifics are needed can be added in separate sections. Right now it mostly says how to create a minimal dataset, then dives into files.
Since both people involved in this ticket are no longer here, perhaps @sbarbosadataverse could weigh in on whether the Dataset section provides enough high level guidance on creating a dataset, especially with regard to metadata and specific roles/permissions for datasets. Terms appears to be covered. Passing back to dev/ Sonia for UX review.
Releated to User Guide - File Pg #3560.
To focus on the most important features and bugs, we are closing issues created before 2020 (version 5.0) that are not new feature requests with the label 'Type: Feature'.
If you created this issue and you feel the team should revisit this decision, please reopen the issue and leave a comment.
@posixeleni in v4.2, #2480 said: However, @eaquigley I noticed that under Edit Dataset it only talks about how to Edit Files but nothing about the entire Dataset's Metadata, Terms, Permissions. Maybe we need a seperate section just to describe how to Edit a Dataset in General and one about Edit Files in A Dataset http://guides.dataverse.org/en/4.2/user/dataset-management.html#edit-dataset
