VAR tutorial not working #322

Open MOAMaster opened 2 years ago

I was able to execute all of the Simple-SPBC examples just fine

But, can't even get the first VAR tutorial working. Has it been tested with the latest release?

Thanks.

In the first program, read_data, it looks like startHist is a numeric and not a QUARTERLY date like endHist.

Also, where is the documentation for IRIS? The deprecation message tells me to switch from dbload to databank.fromCSV. But, I get errors in the arguments. It looks like the names of the arguments now include some uppercase characters and the = signs disappear but it would be nice to find some documentation to confirm this.

Thanks.

I now have 6/7 examples from VAR working correctly. This required at least one change to the IRIS code.

I have example 7 working, sort of. But, only the upper confidence interval appears to be showing. And, I am getting a wierd error message about missing data. This is the forecast example. An important one I think.

I can't find the problem. Somewhere deep inside and I can't find it. Please contact me so I can get this resolved.

Also, will be happy to send you copies of my updated files.

OK, I finally was able to find where to make the changes so that the proper upper and lower confidence intervals are changed. Locations were deep in the code as I suspected.

So, I now have both SPBC and VAR examples executing perfectly. You will have to contact me if you want the code updates.

Could you send me the code? I'm teaching an advanced undergraduate economics class where we used to use IRIS for VAR forecasting, but now our old code does not work anymore. (sties@ualberta.ca)
