Currently the UI for switching interaction mode is at the front of the nanotube task. Separate this from the nanotube task and only appear when the player needs to switch interaction mode.
Possible ways of doing it:
Append the interaction mode switching UI to the front of the list of menus for the next task
Or treat switching interaction mode as it's own task
