- external SFP+ (marked A) (1Gbps or 10Gbps) with cage, connected to multiplexer that switches it to:
- SerDes PHY and then to CPU via RGMII port
- secondary SFP connector without cage
- internal SFP (marked B) (1Gbps only), connected to SerDes PHY and then CPU directly to switch, without cage
- internal SFP+ (marked C) (1Gbps or 10Gbps) without cage, connected to multiplexer

To implement the SFP port, switch or ethernet PHY must have SerDes interface. Processor chips with integrated switch generally do not have this, standalone PHY is required for this.
IP1001 Integrated 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet Transceiver used in MqMaker WiTi does not support this, alternative choice is required.
Possible choice is AR8033 or AR8031 are suitable choices, likely a number of other ICs.
SFP port required I2C interface to be connected to router. If there are more SFPs, I2C must be MUXed or have multiple ports
