To use the router in alternative configuration for 10Gbps links, it would be prohibitively expensive to add routing capabilities at such throughput. Thus the idea is to implement two SFP ports and connect them in pass-through configuration, using the routing platform for link monitoring and KORUZA specific features.

Look into http://www.marvell.com/transceivers/ or others for PHYs, maybe there is a good and cheap one with both 1/10Gbps support.

Otherwise, retimer only solution could be something like: http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/interface/retimer-overview.page

There are two standalone multiplex ICs used one for high-speed 10 GHz differential lines and one for low-speed management signals. SFP port A is switched either to SFP port B or port C.
