Enable slack alerts for MUONFE #1997

Open FreddieAkeroyd opened 7 years ago

Is it possible to also activate NDEMUONFE (IBEX) so we can get alerts when beamline magnets turn off? Alternatively we could enable alarms on all the magnet currents in the three instrument machines.

There was an appropriate kind of trip in cycle during February that would used alarm method. Had it been in place it would have saved some lost beam time. As such proposing this for next sprint.

Being sought for by the Instrument Scientist, James asked again today. If nothing else can we trigger this via the run control mechanism and have simulated runs running to send the alerts?

Does alerts on run control out of range provide enough flexibility? That would certainly define the task quite well. I'm not sure you strictly need to be running to have alerts triggered, if you put an alert on "WAITING" then certainly but if the alerts are on the individual blocks then no (I think that is how we did it in seci). Probably just needs a minor change to run control IOC to post to slack, should be achievable in a similar way to how we post to archiver on begin/end

From what James was saying, then yes, run control will provide enough flexibility, although we might be hitting the need to test against a status instead (binary records for the state of PSUs on/off or interlocked that might need to be ‘alarmed’ against). If we can get the run control IOC to post to SLACK I can see that being a useful tool for the support teams as well.
