CHIPIR: Offline Test of YZ Table

As a developer or instrument scientist, I would like to ensure that the new YZ table destined for the CHIPIR blockhouse functions correctly in the current control system.

Additional Information obtained from meeting on 11/01/2023 (minutes on project site):

• Is a dual axis device, with Z vertical and Y across the beam
• Will replace a static table in the front of the blockhouse
• Galil-controlled (cables from controller already present at location)
• Has vertical lead-screws similar to the reflectometer benches
• At least one axis will have a high-low homing signal (part of travel will be low, the other high) to d

Timescales:

• Expected to have all parts delivered and table assembled (and controllable) in R106 motion lab by the end of May 2023
• Up to three days working with Motion and Support groups to commission the table offline
• Up to one day re-commissioning in the blockhouse once the table is installed (additional ticket for this)

Acceptance Criteria

• [ ] All table functions operate correctly (e.g. axes move in expected directions, switches engage when expected)
• [ ] Calibration values are entered into the software and axes move to required specification

• Project site with full details
• To date, CHIPIR is still using the SECI control system, however the commissioning process will be very similar to that in IBEX.

Project has been given low priority due to lack of resources and scheduling issues. Likely to be several months before work can continue. Drawings are being checked in the meantime. Parts will be manufactured subsequently.
