During the 19124-1 project team meeting held 31 May 2021, the point was raised about the need to better define validation in 19159-1.

See N666 posted in the new livelink TC211 document management site, clause 3.65. The consensus in the project team meeting that this be revisited in part 1 of 19159 when it is revised.

3.65 validation process of assessing, by independent means, the quality of the data products derived from the system outputs [SOURCE: CEOS WGCV, ISO/TS 19101-2:2008, 4.41] verification, where the specified requirements are adequate for an intended use [SOURCE: VIM/ISO 99] process of evaluating by independent means the accuracy of satellite-derived land products and quantifying their uncertainties by analytical comparison with reference data [SOURCE: 3] process of confirming that the specifications and requirements set out in the design of an operation were sufficient to meet the objectives of the operation [SOURCE: 11] calibration validation process of assessing the validity of derived parameters and related output [SOURCE: ISO 19159-1:2014, 4.4]

Comments from the N666 working draft and this specific clause from Dr. Wolgang Kreese the Editor of 19124-1: "moved from 3.10 to here; 3.10 deleted; proposed by BSS additions; comments by BSS Comment by JCL not taken into consideration: “Maybe add specify „calibration“ paremeters: „Process of assessing the validity of calibration parameters ? Even in 19159 the scope of this expression is not clear."
