Currently, item classes that include information of any kind of geographical extent (e.g. a domainOfValidity) contain that extent information by value. That means that changes to an extent in one item do not affect the extent of other items that happen to share the same extent information.
As part of the migration to ISO 19111:2019 it was suggested by the Control Body to manage extents as individual register items in the future. This implies that extent information in items will be contained by reference in the future and changes to an extent item will affect all register items that reference that extent. @maccraymer Is that the expected outcome?
