Currently there are xsd.bak files for every xsd file -- do we actually want them?

Aren't those autogenerated by Oxygen? I don't think we need them; GitHub versioning should provide us with the backups we need. they might be useful in local repositories. I'd suggest adding *.bak to .gitignore file.
