The footprint for the current 1x3 and 1x6 and 1x2 headers are for this odd standalone header that you can buy. It is kinda crazy expensive compared to buying a 40 long strip. With this new strip (http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/NREC039SABC-M30RC/S1013EC-39-ND/2775095) we will be able to buy strips of 40 and just break them apart. A secondary benefit is they have more board contact area so our plugs won't rip off as easily.
