Unified-Search not available in Toolbar (TB 31.0) #29

In Thunderbird 31.01 (2014-07-23) the Unified Search widget disappeared from my toolbar, and I don't see it in the Customize Toolbar dialog either.

Thx, Marco

Thanks Marco to reporting it.

There are several things changing in Thunderbird in latest releases. I have a new version but was not able to publish it at AMO (addons.mozilla.org) still because new constraints. I'm using TB 31.0 from yesterday release too (I suppose that the latest '1' in '31.01' is a mistake) and with the, for now un-published, latest version I have the widget in my toolbar still, but I can confirm that some things stop working, just found that quick filtering buttons (for 'attachments', 'know contacts' and so) didn't work.

The latest version is v0.7.3 and is here at github available for download, but since github doesn't allow me to upload a file ready for installation that download needs some manual set-up to make it work:

If you prefer, I can send you a 'ready to install file', just send me email to iagosrl@gmail.com.

And I will increase the priority to finish and publish a new version to avoid more users from suffering this; and the new bugs that appeared too :-(

thanks for your feedback!

Morning,

now, with content from GitHub (0.7.3) toolbar is selectable for placement in cutomization wizzard.

Thx,

Marco

Thanks Marco for the confirmation.

I have a new version ready, 0.7.4, that solves another minor problems if you want to try, but there are some new problems with TB 31 that are not solved still (global search suggestions fail on click). When installing this, its required to re-add the widget to the toolbar from the Customize window.

You can wait too for when I released the version at AMO, it will update automatically.

cheers, Iago

Hi Iago, You write that github doesn't allow you to upload a file ready for installation, but on github you can create releases. In a release you can add a tag, so the right commit/version is how, add release notes and add binary files. You can look at my project's site for an example: https://github.com/mailredirect/mailredirect/releases Hope that helps! Onno

  • download the zip file
  • unzip de zip contents,
  • zip the content of the 'TBX-Unified-Search-0.7.3' (this folder as part of the zip is what breaks installation).
  • change new file extension to '.xpi'.
  • Go to Thunderbird->add-ons->install from file button and pick up the '.xpi'.
  • Restart.

Hi Onno,

I did not know about that option, thank you!!

Since the content of 'releases' that appeared on Github is automatic based on created git-tags, and some old news on Github about removal of the section 'Downloads' (https://developer.github.com/v3/repos/downloads/) I suppose there was no way to upload again binary files --it seems they just changed the place and way of doing that.

But this way is great, I will upload latest there, thanks again!
