There is a lack of explanations for coins mechanics in the game. The two mechanics to earn coins in the game is the shooting and saving mechanics.
Summary Based on the UG Submitted:
Shooting Mechanics
if goal is not scored : 10 coins added
if goal is scored (as beginner, as medium, as expert) : 10 coins added
if input is above the maximum input allowed for current expertise but less than 9, shot will be considered a miss, i.e. goal is not scored : 0 coins added
Saving Mechanics
if goal is not saved : 10 coins added
if goal is saved (as beginner, as medium, as expert) : 10 coins added
if input is above the max input for expertise : 10 coins added
Hence, I originally thought that since most of the time we earn 10 coins, the coins is more like a token of you playing despite winning or losing. However, it is odd that the only time you get 0 coins is when you try to input above the max allowed for your expertise. Furthermore, since that is considered a miss, why get 0 coins when not scoring still gives you 10 points if your input is inside your expertise range
